I have taken an interest in making my own hand planes. Veritas and Lie-Neilson, sell excellent quality tools. Although they are not overpriced they are expensive, and I have a hard time trying to justify the expense. It occurred to me that I could make most of the planes I will need and save a little money at the same time, not to mention the learning experience and fun I would have in the process. I spent a tremendous amount of time researching the subject and looking at plane makers web sites for inspiration. My first attempt was a Krenov style wooden plane which turned out nicely and works well. I have aspirations of building dovetail infill planes next.
