I have
constructed a molding bench according to the Gingery book
which should
hold about 200 pounds of sand. I intend to use petro-bond molding sand for several reasons. First, I used it in school and am therefore familiar with it. Second, unlike green sand I won't need to retemper it every time I want to make a mold since there is no water to evaporate. And third, it is easy to take care of. After removing a casting from a mold, just scrape off the sand that was in contact with the casting. You can recycle this burned sand but the waste is small enough that you don't necessarily need to.
